The Lesser Town Gate is at one end of Charles Bridge. There are two towers here, the shorter one was originally built as part of the city fortifications in the 1100s and allowed entry to the Judith Bridge. The Charles Bridge replaced the Judith Bridge which collapsed in floods in 1342 and the taller tower was then built in the 1400s. It is a very popular thoroughfare into the city.
